Surging Bobcats visit Hawks

Basketball Betting Lines

01/22/2010 - (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Unfortunately the Charlotte Bobcats must leave the friendly confines of home and hit the road from time to time as per the NBA schedule makers. They will try to keep their unbeaten streak intact tonight in a showdown on the road against the Southeast Division-rival Atlanta Hawks.

Charlotte just completed a perfect six-game homestand with a 104-65 victory over the Miami Heat on Wednesday from Time Warner Cable Arena. Gerald Wallace, who was questionable with a sprained left ankle, registered 20 points and 10 boards for the Bobcats, who have won a franchise-record nine straight games at home and improved to 18-4 as the hosts this season.

Stephen Jackson led all scorers with 24 points and Nazr Mohammed registered a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds in the win. Raymond Felton poured in 14 points, as the Bobcats recorded their ninth win in 10 tries overall and improved to 18-10 over the last 28 games following a 3-9 start to the season.

"I can't explain this game," Bobcats coach Larry Brown said. "We played great, defended great the whole game. Guys are playing at a high level."

The Bobcats will try to work on their 3-15 road mark Friday night.

Meanwhile, the Hawks, who sit a half-game ahead of Orlando and 5 1/2 games in front of Charlotte in the Southeast standings, will wrap up a five-game homestand this evening.

Atlanta is 3-1 on the residency and has won four of five games overall, including Wednesday's 108-97 victory versus the Sacramento Kings at Philips Arena. Jamal Crawford came off the bench to score 20 points and Joe Johnson added 17 and seven assists for the Hawks, who were coming off a 94-91 defeat to Oklahoma City on Monday.

"They were tough in the first half, led by their young rookie (Evans). He pretty much carried them in the first half. Give them a lot of credit. They fought hard and never gave up," said Johnson.

Josh Smith had 16 points and nine rebounds, while Al Horford added 15 points in a winning effort. Atlanta is now an impressive 17-5 as the host this season.

Charlotte beat Atlanta, 103-83, at home on November 6 this season. It has lost four straight and five of its last six trips to Philips Arena.
