12/11/2009 -
Indianapolis, IN (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Tyler Hansbrough scored a career-high 21
points while grabbing seven rebounds off the bench, as the Indiana Pacers
snapped a six-game skid with a 107-91 victory over the lowly New Jersey Nets
at Conseco Fieldhouse.
Roy Hibbert had a career-high 20 points to go with nine rebounds and three
blocks for the Pacers, who won for the first time since a win over the
Clippers on November 25. Troy Murphy chipped in 15 points and 12 rebounds, and
Mike Dunleavy tallied 15 points, five rebounds, and four assists for Indiana,
which shot 46.7 percent from the field.
Brook Lopez finished with 25 points, 14 rebounds, and three blocked shots for
the Nets, who have lost two in a row following their second win of the season
on Tuesday against the Bulls. Devin Harris added 18 points, while Rafer Alston
chipped in 17 points off the bench for New Jersey, which shot 36.3 percent
from the floor.
The Pacers scored the final eight points of the first quarter to take a 27-21
lead.
Ahead 33-27 early in the second, Indiana scored eight consecutive points to
build a double-digit margin. Hibbert tallied five points during the stretch,
including a slam to make it a 41-27 game with 8:14 left until half.
A Lopez basket had the Nets within 52-46 with over 2 1/2 minutes left until
the break, but the Pacers still led, 60-51, heading into the locker room.
New Jersey trailed by only five, 76-71, after Courtney Lee made a layup with
over four minutes to go in the third. But Indiana responded with eight
straight points to take an 84-71 lead. They held an 87-74 margin heading to
the fourth.
Hibbert drilled a three-pointer with over eight minutes left in the fourth to
extend the Pacers' lead to 96-75.
The Nets never got closer than 11 the rest of the way.

won five of the last six meetings between the teams. New Jersey has lost in
six of nine and seven of its last 11 contests at Conseco Fieldhouse.

Oddsmakers have released the odds for the 2009 AP NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year Award and Seattle Seahawks linebacker Aaron Curry has been made the opening favorite.
Bet on NFL Football
Seattle took Curry with the fourth overall pick in April's NFL draft and plan on inserting him into its starting lineup right away. The Hawks traded linebacker Julian Peterson in the offseason, so Curry is expected to have a significant role in Seattle's defense next year and that's one of the primary reasons he is the favorite to win the NFL ROY Award.
Oddsmakers from online sportsbook MySportsbook.com have made Curry a 5/1 favorite to win this year's NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year Award. Given that he was the best defensive prospect in this year's draft and how he'll have plenty of opportunities to make plays in '09, Curry offers a ton of value at 5/1.
Another thing working for Curry is the position he plays. A linebacker has won the defensive ROY award six straight times and eight of the last nine years. Jerod Mayo, Patrick Willis, DeMeco Ryans, Shawne Merriman, Jonathan Vilma, Terrell Suggs, Kendrell Bell and Brian Urlacher were the most recent linebackers to take home the award.
Following Curry at 5/1 are Tyson Jackson (Chiefs) at 7/1, James Laurinaitas (Rams) at 8/1, Brian Orakpo (Redskins) at 10/1, Rey Maualuga (Bengals) at 10/1 and Jerry Peria (Falcons) at 10/1.
All the players mentioned above are expected to start for their respective teams, but Jackson and Peria are going to have a tough time being recognized on a national level given they're both defensive linemen. D-linemen rarely put up the numbers that it takes to win an individual award like the ROY.
A couple of players with some value are Clay Matthews (Packers) at 12/1 and Larry English (Chargers) at 15/1. Matthews is expected to start at outside linebacker in Green Bay's new 3-4 defense and could rack up a ton of tackles. English, who was an impressive player at Northern Illinois, is expected to be a situational pass rusher for the Chargers and could rack up a ton of sacks.
