Heat continue swing in Utah

Basketball Betting Lines

01/11/2010 - (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Miami Heat resume a six-game western road trip in Salt Lake City Monday when they take on the Utah Jazz at EnergySolutions Arena.

The Heat fell to 1-1 on their trip yesterday in Los Angeles when Chris Kaman recorded a team-high 22 points and 14 rebounds, as the Clippers won a season- high fourth straight game, 94-84, over Miami at the Staples Center.

Dwyane Wade posted 24 points and Michael Beasley 20 with seven rebounds for the Heat, who were coming off an impressive win against Phoenix Friday to kick off the trek, which will also feature games at Golden State, Houston and Oklahoma City.

"Not what we set out to do today, we were never in it. Kaman and Camby set the tone. This was disappointing. We have to regroup," said Heat coach Erik Spoelstra.

The Jazz, meanwhile, are coming off a rather impressive road win over Southwest Division-leading Dallas on Saturday. Deron Williams came back from a two-game absence and scored 20 points with nine assists in that one, leading Utah in a dominating 111-93 win over the Mavs.

Carlos Boozer added 15 points and seven rebounds for the Jazz, who had lost four of the last five games coming in.

Mehmet Okur contributed 14 points, while Paul Millsap and Kyle Korver had 12 points apiece. Wesley Matthews had 10 in the win.

"(Williams is) great, especially given he is banged up," Korver said. "It doesn't matter how he is -- he is going to come out and play hard, and tonight he did pretty well. He is our leader, our best player, it is good to have him back."

The Heat have won four straight over Utah, including an 80-70 win earlier this season in South Beach.

Sportsbook betting odds favor Europe in Ryder Cup

September 19, – Despite holding a decided edge in the all-time series, with 24 wins, 2 ties and 10 losses, Team USA is the underdog again heading into the Ryder Cup in Kidare, Ireland this weekend, according to MySportsbook.com.  The Europeans have captured four of the past five editions, including their largest victory ever, an 18 ½ to 9 ½ thumping in Michigan in 2004. Current Ryder Cup betting odds favor the Europeans to continue their winning ways; they are a 4-5 bet to take the title, compared to 6-5 for the Americans.

Despite being knocked out in the first round of World Match play by Shaun Micheel, Tiger Woods is predicted to lead the US charge and be their highest point scorer for the week, with odds listed at 9-4 that he outpoints all other American players, including Jim Furyk, Phil Mickelson and Chris DiMarco to  name a  few.  Team USA has four relatively unknown players on the roster but all four are 2007 tournament winners and have posted some of season’s best performances, each earning over $1.5 million on the PGA TOUR.  They include Zach Johnson, Vaughan Taylor, JJ Henry and Brett Wetterich.

The experienced European squad includes the likes of Luke Donald, Sergio Garcia, Padraig Harrington, Jose Maria Olazabal and Darren Clarke, who’s emotions will be tested after the passing of his wife to a battle with cancer.  Donald and Garcia are in particularly good form and each is a 5-1 bet to lead the European squad in the points race. Donald has proven he can go head to head with Woods at a major event after a run for the $1.2 million purse at the PGA Championship. Garcia’s Ryder Cup credentials prove he’s ready for battle too.
