Ferrer, Ferrero to do battle in Mexican Open final

Tennis Betting Lines

02/27/2010 - Acapulco, Mexico (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Third-seeded David Ferrer and fourth- seeded Juan Carlos Ferrero each won their respective semifinal matches Friday to set up an all-Spanish final at the $1.08 million Mexican Open.

Ferrero took the first set 7-5 from seventh-seeded Juan Monaco when the Argentine retired due to an abdominal strain.

The former world No. 1 Ferrero has won his last two events, including a title in Buenos Aires last week. He also titled in Brazil two weeks ago. Ferrero now has a 14-match winning streak.

Ferrero holds a 14-17 career mark in title matches.

In the second semifinal, Ferrer outlasted second-seeded Fernando Gonzalez of Chile 6-7 (4-7), 6-0, 6-4 on the red clay at The Fairmont Acapulco Princess.

Ferrer is 7-8 lifetime in title bouts.

Ironically, Ferrero and Ferrer met in last week's final in Buenos Aires. Despite Ferrero winning that matchup, Ferrer still holds a 5-2 advantage in the all-time series versus his fellow countryman.

This event is one of the 11 ATP World Tour 500 tournaments and concludes a four-event "Golden Swing" through Latin America.

This week's winner will claim $227,000.

Kurt Warner to start, Matt Leinart to watch

Despite the debate that's swirling , Kurt Warner will remain the starting quarterback for the Arizona Cardinals, coach Dennis Green said today. The Arizona Cardinals are the +7 point underdog at online sportsbook MySportsbook.com for this Sunday's game.

Green's comment came in a statement released by the team following an ESPN report that Green decided that rookie Matt Leinart would replace Warner as starter for Sunday's game at Atlanta.

"Generally talking about the starting lineup is not something we do," Green told the AP. "However, given the speculation that was out there we want to make it clear. We're disappointed after last week, but we still expect to be a playoff football team and we fully expect Kurt Warner to be the quarterback that leads us. That has not changed."
