Ducks aim for rare win in New Jersey
Hockey Betting Lines
02/17/2012 -
(Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Anaheim Ducks have gotten their season-high road trip
off to an excellent start and have begun thinking about the playoffs once
again.
To keep that momentum, the Ducks will have to pick up a rare road victory over
the Devils as they look to avoid an eighth loss in their last nine regular-
season trips to New Jersey.
Anaheim has been one of the league's hottest teams since the start of the new
calendar year, going 14-2-3 since Jan. 6 to climb within eight points of a
playoff spot following a slow start to the season. The Ducks have points in
seven straight (5-0-2) and that includes a 3-0-1 record so far on their road
trip.
The latest stop on the trek came Wednesday in Pittsburgh, where the Ducks
cooled off the Penguins with a 2-1 win. After yielding the game's opening
goal, Corey Perry tied things up in the second before Teemu Selanne netted the
game-winner in the third frame to give Anaheim its third straight win.
"This team is playing with a lot of confidence right now," Selanne said after
moving into a tie with Brendan Shanahan for 12th on the league's all-time list
with 656 career goals.
Jonas Hiller made 25 saves as the Ducks improved to 7-1-3 in their past 11
road games.
New Jersey has typically been a location of struggles for Anaheim, which has
just one victory in its last eight trips there in the regular season dating
back to the 1996-97 season. The Ducks are making just their third trip to the
Garden State since losing Game 7 of the 2003 Stanley Cup Finals to the Devils.
The Devils have won two straight versus the Ducks overall, including a 2-1
victory in Anaheim in the lone meeting last season.
New Jersey comes into this meeting tied with Ottawa for sixth in the East with
68 points, one behind Pittsburgh and three back of Philadelphia in the
standings. The Devils snapped a two-game slide with Tuesday's 4-1 win at
Buffalo.
Ilya Kovalchuk notched his 12th career hat trick and logged an assist, while
Petr Sykora had the other goal. Adam Henrique had two assists and Martin
Brodeur came up with 29 saves to push New Jersey's record in its past nine
games to 6-1-2.
"I really have high hopes for this team," Sykora said. "If we can keep it
together and play the same way, I think we can play some good hockey late in
the spring."
Kovalchuk capped his three-goal game with an empty-netter and tallied his
first hat trick since Feb. 15, 2009. That came in a meeting with the Ducks
while he was a member of the Atlanta Thrashers.

NFL betting action is back! At MySportsbook, all of the pro football odds are posted for the NFC North.
Check out how we see the four teams in this cloudy division stacking up this year in the chase for the playoffs! Green Bay Packers (+125) - With QB Aaron Rodgers leading the offense and DC Dom Capers working his magic on defense, the Packers are a real force to be reckoned with.
Virtually nothing changed on this offense for Green Bay from last year to this year, save for the addition of rookie OT Brian Bulaga to the bunch. Expect more huge numbers from the Pack, and a relatively favorable schedule should get them over the hump and into the playoffs once again this season. My NFL Betting Predictions: 11-5, 1st place in NFC North Minnesota Vikings (+130) - There are still too many unknowns about the Vikes this year. There is a huge difference between QB Brett Favre and either Tarvaris Jackson or Sage Rosenfels under center. Plus, is Favre comes back, is he really going to be able to keep his pick total under double digits again? Depth at running back looked like it might have been an issue with RB Chester Taylor fleeing in free agency, but drafting RB Toby Gerhart should pick up the difference. This defense is still suitable, but with a first place schedule, making the playoffs is going to be very tough regardless of whether #4 comes back or not.

Chicago Bears (+350) - The Bears are probably a bit of an overhyped team once again this year. No, we don't think it is plausible for QB Jay Cutler to have as bad of a season as he did last year, and we do think the additions of RB Chester Taylor and DE Julius Peppers are going to help immensely, but there's still something in the water in the Windy City that we aren't so sure about. Maybe Chicago finds its way to .500... but then again, maybe it doesn't. If Favre comes back, Cutler might be the worst quarterback in this division this year.
Detroit Lions (+1500) - The Lions are probably once again going to be the whipping boys for the rest of the teams in the NFC North, but they aren't just going to roll over and die once again. There is some real talent amassing on this team offensively, as the combination of QB Matt Stafford, RB Jahvid Best, WR Calvin Johnson, and TE Brandon Pettigrew should put a bunch of points on the board if the offensive line can even remotely hold up. The questions really lie on defense, where it feels like DT Ndamukong Suh is going to be trying to stop opposing teams all by himself. This year should show some marked improvement in the Motor City.
The Patriots will make NFL betting fans a lot of money this season, get in early and enjoy the cash. NFL Betting

Mens NCAA Basketball Tournament odds
As of February 9, MySportsbook.com has released its coveted 2007 Mens NCAA Basketball Tournament betting odds. “March Madness betting ” only a month away, the top ranked Florida Gators are favorite at 7-2 to win it all. The defending champs have not disappointed at all this season and currently have a 22-2 record and are undefeated (9-0) in SEC play. The Gators’ thrive off of their extremely balanced, experienced and versatile attack. All five starters started in last seasons National Championship game. What is most impressive with this group is their balance; the five starters all average between 10.7 and 13.6 PPG. The Gators have been on an absolute roll having won 15 straight by an average of 16.4 PPG.
Right behind the Gators are the 5th ranked UNC Tar Heels at 9-2. The Heels (21-3, 7-2) are absolutely loaded with top notch talent and are as deep as any team in the country. A concern for the Tar Heels might be inexperience. Of their top four scorers/ minute earners, three are freshmen and the other is a sophomore. The rest of the regular season, the Tar Heels play only one team that is currently ranked (Duke). Their remaining opponents do combine for an impressive 107-58 record though.
Other teams that the MySportsbook.com members seem to believe will win it all include the west coasts’ top team #2 UCLA (6-1), #3 OSU behind man-child Greg Oden (8-1), and #4 Wisconsin (10-1) behind their defense which has given up 70+ points only three times all season.
Below is a list of some of the favorites to win the 2007 Men’s NCAA Basketball Championship lines. For the full list of teams and March Madness odds be sure to log onto MySportsbook.com.
